Daniel McKinney - Salt Lake City, UT

Daniel is a graduate of Covenant seminary and was an intern at Providence while he was at school in St. Louis. The McKinneys made Utah their home in April of 2006.  He was called to be the church planting intern and Assistant Pastor at Jordan Presbyterian Church.  Last year he began to work on planting a new work on the west side of Salt Lake City.

Daniel and Stephanie, along with Joshua (1/03) and Emma (1/05), welcomed native Utahan Eli in May of 2007. The McKinneys love being together, having folks over for dinner, and doing anything that takes advantage of being outside.

You can learn more about Daniel's ministry by visiting the West Side Presbyterian Church website.

Jamison Galt - Brooklyn, NY

Jamison was a bit of a nomad growing up but hails primarily from the Republic of Texas. As a child he often visited his aunt in Crown Heights and now that he’s moved to Brooklyn he’s trying to figure out a way to stay here for the rest of his life. Hopefully that counts for something. Jamison and his wife, Laura, who’s from a small town in Mississippi, were married in 2001 and since 2004 have been the proud parents of twins Arthur and Adaline.

The Galt family were members of Providence while Jamison was in seminary at Covenant.  The Galts moved to Brooklyn in the Summer of 2006 from St. Louis, after Jamison and Laura completed Masters degrees there at Covenant Theological Seminary. Jamison is on staff at Park Slope Church as an Assistant Pastor and church planting apprentice, having been ordained on Pentecost Sunday, 2007. He also participated in Redeemer Manhattan’s church planting Fellows’ program in 2007-2008. Recently, the Galts have moved into the Fort Greene/Clinton Hill neighborhood in Brooklyn to work towards beginning a new church in that community. You can find more information about their new church plant here.

The Galts enjoy Brooklyn, French-pressed coffee, movies, all kinds of food and wine, theology, literature, friends, art, and geese. They often endure Dora the Explorer.

Ross Dixon - Reformed University Fellowship (Mizzou)

Rev. Ross Dixon is a graduate of Auburn University and later Covenant Theological Seminary, where he earned his Master of Divinity degree in 2003. Ross' favorite thing is time with his family. After that are running, swimming, movies, books, and coffee. And chess. He wants to be good at golf, but he is not. Ross is married to Jenny, full-time mommy to their daughter, Avery, and part-time Physical Therapist.

Emad Mikhail - Middle East

Emad & Michelle Mikhail serve in the Middle East.  Because of the sensitive nature of their ministry we cannot reveal more about their important work. Please remember to pray for them.

Dan Young - Mexican Border

Dan grew up in Ft. Collins, CO and accepted Christ while in high school. Through the local church, Campus Crusade for Christ, and Reformed University Ministries, Dan grew in his faith. After studying in Spain and attending Urbana, Dan sensed a call to missions, and studied Bible and theology at Covenant Theological Seminary in St. Louis.

Becky grew up in St. Louis, and accepted Christ through the witness of a VBS teacher. She attended a Christian high school and Wheaton College. She met Dan while studying for a Masters in Art Education at the University of Missouri.

After they married, Dan and Becky worked with youth and young couples through MTW/Impact for two years in Cusco, Peru. After their work in Peru, God confirmed Dan and Becky in ministry to Spanish-speaking people. In 1990, they were called to join BEAMM in Juárez, Mexico. There they started a church plant called Gracia y Paz (Grace and Peace) in 1997. They have now turned the pastorate of this church over to another BEAMM team member, Josue Mayo.

The Youngs have now moved to El Paso, Texas to participate in multicultural church planting there. Dan also teaches at the San Pablo Seminary in Juárez, while pursuing a Masters in Border History at the University of Texas at El Paso. Becky is counseling once a week at Crises Pregnancy Services. Dan and Becky have four children - Benjamin (12/21/85), Will (10/29/87), Rachel (4/16/90), Lisa (2/14/92).

Marcus Toole - Cree Indians (Canada)

Under the shadow of the mighty Canadian Rockies, just south of Edmonton, Alberta a centuries old group of Native Americans are clustered in four reserves (reservations). The Cree of the Montana, Louis Bull, Samson and Erminskin reserves share a common tongue and culture. Centuries old rituals honor nature and mix in fear of and obeisance to the devil. They live with one foot in the past and one foot in the present as their native culture competes with satellite TV and rock music for the hearts of the young.

Another voice was introduced into the mix with the arrival of Marcus Toole on the reserves. A church planter of the Western Canada Presbytery and a missionary with Mission to the World (MTW), the mission arm of the PCA, Marcus is located in Hobbema, a town strategically near the reserves. The church that he planted is called Jesus Church and was just given official status as a mission church of the PCA.

Marcus was a member of Providence when he was in seminary at Covenant.

Garrett Craw - Santa Clarita, CA

Garrett Craw is pastor of Christ Church in Santa Clarita, California.  He was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, but spent most of his early life traveling the world as an army brat. While serving in the Marine Corps he was converted to Christianity and felt a call to enter pastoral ministry. He also currently serves as chaplain for Marine Corps League Detachment 597, a veteran's organization.

Garrett is a graduate of Covenant Theological Seminary in St. Louis and enjoys a robust espresso, good jazz, a fine cigar, and great conversation.  The Craw family were members of Providence when they were in St. Louis during seminary.

He is happily married to Michele and they have four children: Christiana, Ethan, Elizabeth, and the newest addition, baby Celeste.

For more information on Christ Church, you can reach Pastor Craw via pastor@christchurchscv.net or visit the church's website here.

Brian Steadman - Brooklyn, NY

Brian and his wife Jessie were born and raised in Alabama and Florida respectively. After marrying in 2000, they moved to Austin, Texas, where their love for and enjoyment of cities began to grow. Over the past eight years, especially while in seminary, they developed not only a love for big cities, but also a desire to be involved in urban church planting.

The Steadman family were members of Providence when he was in seminary.  The opportunity to serve as church planting intern for Park Slope became the perfect next step for them following graduation from Covenant Theological Seminary in St. Louis. Brian and Jessie, with their children Georgia and Eben, moved to Brooklyn in August 2008.

The Steadmans enjoy camping, hiking, all sorts of fun and games, Prospect Park, exploring Brooklyn, dark chocolate, red wine, and anything with truffle oil. They can't wait to experience New York in the spring. So far, the only thing they haven't enjoyed about New York is IKEA. But the Swedish meatballs are tasty.

John Rug - Chile

Both John and Cathy received Christ at age 18. They met at Geneva College in Western Pennsylvania and were married a couple of years later.

As time passed, they became interested in the spread of the gospel in other lands through various missionaries who visited their local church. In 1984, the Rugs were appointed to Chile by MTW and have been involved in church-planting since 1986.

Currently they are working with the Viña del Mar church planting effort. They minister the gospel to some of Chile’s “disposable” peoples, including the blind and deaf.  John is blind.  In order to facilitate a church-planting movement that includes this largely overlooked group of disabled people, the Rugs minister to them, their relatives, and friends through a special project called CEMIPRE (#090831). This is a resource center for the uniquely-abled, in cooperation with the church-planting effort, helping the body of believers cross special needs barriers with the gospel of Christ.

Cathy also teaches quilting to women. Some have come to know the Lord as a result, and others are now open to the message of truth.

The Rugs have four children: Ana, Elena, Benjamin, and Juanita (4/22/92).

Shane Gibson grew up in a suburb of Dallas and attended Texas State University where he graduated with a major in philosophy and minor in history.  While in school he worked for a compassion organization called New Start where he was the coordinator of an after school program for underprivileged kids in Austin.  He married Kim in 2002 and moved to St. Louis to enroll at Covenant Theological Seminary.

Shane and his family were members of Providence when he was in seminary.  He served as a Pastoral Intern during that time.

He graduated from seminary with a Masters in Divinity. They have a daughter, Adison, a son Deacon, and their newest addition, George Owen.
